Beyond the camera, I’m always building. Whether I'm wiring up motion-control rigs with Arduino, modeling in Fusion, or directing real-time cinematics in Unreal, I design the tools and pipeline hacks that make the vision possible.
Tom Kucy is a visual artist based in Calgary, working across cinematography, real-time 3D, and creative technology. As Executive Product Engineer at Critical Mass, he leads a wing of the studio's 3D product pipeline, specializing in luxury automotive visualization that brings creative visions to life in real-time. He pairs bleeding-edge technology with mastery of lookdev to deliver exceptional visual and technical fidelity.
Tom holds a Bachelor of Design in Visual Communication Design from AUArts and has created work for brands like BMW, Mercedes-Benz, INFINITI, First Command, and AT&T. He's also partnered with the Clara Lionel Foundation, traveling across Africa and the Caribbean to document the charity's impact and help beneficiaries share their stories firsthand.
When he's not behind a screen, Tom is in his home workshop indulging a serious tool addiction—building furniture and homeware for friends and family through woodworking and 3D printing. Equal parts digital, microplastics and sawdust.
